IATA Approved Flight Kennels

All dogs shipped by air must be housed within an IATA approved kennel that is ideal for how big is the dog being transported. Food and water should also be contained in the kennel for long journeys and some airlines do exercise any dogs being shipped in the hang on significant stop-overs but for security reasons, this is simply not a thing that you (if you are travelling on the same aircraft) would be allowed to complete yourself.

Transporting your dog to USA

Relocate your dog to USA by having an IPATA registered and approved USA dog shipper such as for instance Airsupply shippping (passportforpets.co.uk). You know your dog depends on you to help make the best decisions about their welfare and we follow the strict operating code laid down by IPATA. These rules were created to ensure that your dog is not unduly stressed by the travel and which they arrive in the US in good condition. However, we have been shipping dogs to the USA for over 40 years and we actually exceed IPATA guidelines because we would like both happy pets AND owners! Our pet shipping business continues to expand and we can only achieve this through happy customers who recommend our services to others.
The good thing about shipping your dog to the USA from a Rabies free country or Rabies controlled Country like the UK is that there’s no quarantine requirement as long as your pet has been around the UK for 6 months or more. However, your pet will need to have documented evidence to be vaccinated against rabies otherwise this will cause entry delays as you is likely to be asked to sign a Confinement Agreement (this basically says you will get your puppy vaccinated and then confine them for at the least 30 days after treatment). If you’re importing a puppy that is too young (usually under 6 months of age) to have had the rabies vaccination you then will be needing a Confinement Agreement, see: USA CDC Dog Confinement Agreements for more details. Whilst the CDC (US authority on pet imports) doesn’t require your pet to have a certificate of overall health MOST AIRLINES DO REQUIRE THIS before they will alow your pet to board an aircraft.

Generally, all dogs must certanly be imported or exported through among the

Arrival into the UK

Are you looking for help with bringing your pets to the UK?
Airpets offer customs clearance for pet dogs and cats under the Pet Travel Scheme into the UK from 3rd countries (outside the EU). We have professional knowledge and facilities to make the entire pet import process easy and stress-free for both you and your pet. All you need to do is complete our customs clearance quote application form.

The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) allows pet dogs, cats and ferrets to enter the UK without quarantine provided that they conform to the regulations. In addition, it allows pet owners in the UK to take their dogs, cats and ferrets to other European countries and then return using them without importance of quarantine. All relevant documents and information can be down loaded from this page and all latest informative data on the scheme may be found on the official DEFRA web page.
For dogs, cats and ferrets entering the UK from any European or “listed” third country the key differences are that the current requirement to carry out a rabies blood test followed by a four-month wait before entry into the UK will no longer be required. For a pet import under the EU Pet Passport Scheme quote – Please click here

Dogs, cats and pet ferrets entering the UK from an EU or ‘listed’third country from 1st January 2012 must: have the following completed in this exact order:

Be microchipped
Vaccinated against rabies
Have waited 21 days after vaccination before entering the UK
Hold an EU Pet Passport or EU Veterinary Certificate (Annex 2)
Tapeworm Treatment(dogs only): before entering the UK, all pet dogs (including assistance dogs) must be treated for tapeworm. The therapy must be administered with a vet not significantly less than 24 hours and less than 120 hours (1-5 days) before its scheduled arrival time in the UK. There is no mandatory requirement for tick treatment. No treatment is needed for dogs entering the UK from Finland, Ireland or Malta).

Pets entering from a non listed third country must pass a blood test 30 days after vaccination followed by a 3 month wait.

In order to avoid confusion we have prepared check lists for you really to print out and decide to try your vet.

Collect your pet promptly from the state animal quarantine station at Heathrow then make the 5 minute journey to your kennels and cattery at Heathrow.

From there you might:

Collect your pet anytime or any day to match during our opening hours.
Take your pet for a walk within our field

Our import staff are experienced in coping with all areas of pet imports and our speciality is making sure that all documentation is correct before leaving the united states of origin! The key cause for concern with Pet Travel Scheme imports is incorrect documentation on arrival. Pre checking documentation is just a unique service to Airpets and is well worth the additional time taken to be able to avoid delays at customs. We are conveniently located just 5 minutes from Heathrow Cargo.

General Information About Exporting Pets

Once you request a pet export quotation we quote for several costs to transport your pet by air to the named destination airport. If you should be delivering your pet to your premises near Heathrow it must arrive a minimum of five hours ahead of the flight. Collections from you (if required) will undoubtedly be by arrangement, usually on the afternoon before departure.

There will however be additional charges payable at the airport of destination to cover costs for such items as airline import handling, customs clearance and veterinary charges. As these fees are payable in country of destination, and we are unable to pay them on your behalf, so these charges aren’t contained in the quote (but we will advise you of this).

Prices are influenced by the size/weight of the animal(s) to be exported, any extra services (such as UK transportation, kenneling, and veterinary certification), flight time and the destination. In the case of dogs, the box size provided is based on the measurements given to us. Should these measurements be incorrect we accept no responsibility for any delay or extra costs involved as a result.

Animals must be shipped in containers created to IATA specifications which are the right size for them i.e. they should be big enough for your pet to stand up without touching the the top of box, lay down comfortably and be able to turn round within the box. There must be a fixed water container within the container with a method of filling it from the surface (funnel).

In case you desire to utilise our services we would have to have written confirmation with payment the moment possible and at the very least 28 days beforehand. We will even demand a contact Name, Address and Telephone Number in the united states of destination (the airline will need to ring beforehand to ensure acceptance).

You might be able to take your pet as excess baggage, which would mean booking direct with passenger reservations. This may also be a cheaper option (please note that some airlines cannot take livestock and that there could be restrictions such as standby status with regards to the airline and the route). However should the animal(s) be an especially large shipment (in Airline terms) or coping with the animal(s) at once while the move be particularly difficult then we are able to provide cargo option along with other services including collection, kenneling and Export Health Certification.

With info on the measurements of the animal(s) we could build transit kennels to fit. Kennels may be either acquired from us or sent to any U.K. Airport to coincide together with your register time or be delivered to your home.

Regardless of the mode of travel, pets will go into the cargo hold of the aircraft. This really is heated and pressurised to exactly the same extent while the passenger cabin. The animals are loaded into the hold approximately 30 minutes before departure (however the airline requires that they are delivered in their mind 4 hours ahead of the flight) and are unloaded at another end usually within half an hour of the plane landing. When the documents are available the animals could be cleared through customs. The handling/vet fees are then payable to the Import Shed Operator where point the animals can be collected and taken home.

Taking your pet on your flight

Pets can travel of all scheduled flights from Heathrow and Gatwick to almost every part of the world so generally, your pet should have the ability to travel on a single flight as yourself if this is what you should like. All of the ‘low-cost’airlines do not carry pets however, and you can find few points that should be considered with this sort of pet shipment.

Firstly, pets arrive in to the cargo or freight portion of the airport, not the passenger terminal and you can’t be in two places simultaneously! If you’re held up attending to your own customs and visa formalities, your pet might be left looking forward to more than essential to be collected and released from their travel kennel.

Also, it’s worth bearing in your mind that many airports require you to take your pets travel kennel away with you. In the case of large or multiple pets, the travel kennel/s may prove extremely tough to transport, especially if you have all your personal luggage to cope with too.

Lastly, you will not have any usage of your pet from enough time they’re checked in at the departure airport and soon you collect them at the destination airport, and for some countries such as Australia and New Zealand where quarantine on landing is applicable, you won’t manage to see your pets before they’re taken with their quarantine accommodation.

If you’ve considered these points and still want your pet to travel for a passing fancy flight as yourself, we’ll work together with you to allow for this whenever possible.

We are happy to meet up clients who are travelling for a passing fancy aircraft as their pets at the London airports on the day of shipment. We would require seeing copies each of Veterinary paperwork to be certain they’re appropriate for travel and whilst we shall always ask you to check and double check how big is your pet and travel kennel in advance, we unfortunately cannot accept any responsibility for last-minute delays or problems occurred on the day of travel with this sort of shipment. The single most common reason for these last second problems at the airport is the measurements being incorrect and the travel kennel being refused as too small for the dog. With the years of experience we have with such issues, we shall sometimes ask you many times if you should be sure about the size as a wriggly dog is not exactly an easy task to measure and we can usually tell if the measurements don’t sound right for the breed of dog.

Many pets that have previously travelled into the UK in a specific size kennel might not manage to travel back out in exactly the same kennel because of the stringent rules applied when leaving the UK. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are amongst the strictest on the planet for animal welfare, and therefore the message here’s that if you are uncertain please say so once we may then make contingency plans for if the kennel is not really a adequate fit.
