Taking your pet in your flight
Pets can travel on most scheduled flights from Heathrow and Gatwick to virtually every area of the world so in most cases, your pet should have the ability to travel for a passing fancy flight as yourself if this really is what you should like. A lot of the ‘low-cost’airlines do not carry pets however, and you will find few points that is highly recommended with this kind of pet shipment.
Firstly, pets arrive in to the cargo or freight area of the airport, not the passenger terminal and you cannot maintain two places at the same time! If you’re organized attending to your own personal customs and visa formalities, your pet may be left waiting for longer than essential to be collected and released from their travel kennel.
Also, it’s worth bearing in mind that most airports need you to take your pets travel kennel away with you. In the case of large or multiple pets, the travel kennel/s may prove very difficult to move, especially if you have all your own luggage to cope with too.
Lastly, you will not have any usage of your pet from the time they’re checked in at the departure airport and soon you collect them at the destination airport, and for many countries such as for instance Australia and New Zealand where quarantine on landing is applicable, you won’t be able to see your pets before they’re taken for their quarantine accommodation.
If you’ve considered these points and still want your pet traveling on a single flight as yourself, we’ll come together with you to allow for this whenever possible.
We’re happy to meet clients who are travelling on a single aircraft as their pets at the London airports on the afternoon of shipment. We’d require seeing copies each of Veterinary paperwork to be certain they’re suitable for travel and whilst we will always ask you to test and check how big your pet and travel kennel in advance, we unfortunately cannot accept any responsibility for last-minute delays or problems occurred on your day of travel with this sort of shipment. The single most common reason for these last second problems at the airport may be the measurements being incorrect and the travel kennel being refused as too small for the dog. With the years of experience we have with such issues, we will sometimes ask you often times if you should be sure in regards to the size as a wriggly dog is not exactly easy to measure and we are able to usually tell if the measurements don’t sound right for the breed of dog.
Many pets that have previously travelled into the UK in a specific size kennel may not have the ability to travel back out in exactly the same kennel due to the stringent rules applied when leaving the UK. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are between the strictest on earth for animal welfare, and so the message listed here is that if you’re unsure please say so as we can then make contingency plans for if the kennel is not really a sufficient fit.
Banned Breeds of Dogs
The following breeds or their mixes are not permitted to enter or transit the UK: Brazilian Fila, Dogo Argentino, Japanese Tosa Inu or American Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier. Also some forms of American Bulldogs have been found to be Pit Bulls. It’s illegal to enter or transit the UK with some of these breeds or their mixes.
Dogs can only just be viewed for exemption from UK Dangerous Dog Laws through the courts. Pet owners cannot apply fo exemption when importing their dogs.Only dogs which are time for the UK after being positioned on the exemption list can enter.
Please remember that the ban also pertains to dogs that spend amount of time in Great Britain during transit to other countries.
If you have a wolf hybrid or Savannah cat, you then must seek advice from the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency before you travel.
General Information About Exporting Pets
Whenever you request a pet export quotation we quote for many costs to transport your pet by air to the named destination airport. If you should be delivering your pet to your premises near Heathrow it must arrive at least five hours ahead of the flight. Collections from you (if required) is going to be by arrangement, usually on the day before departure.
There may however be additional charges payable at the airport of destination to cover costs for such items as airline import handling, customs clearance and veterinary charges. As these fees are payable in country of destination, and we are struggling to pay them on your behalf, so these charges are not contained in the quote (but we will advise you of this).
Prices are determined by the size/weight of the animal(s) to be exported, any extra services (such as UK transportation, kenneling, and veterinary certification), flight time and the destination. In the event of dogs, the box size provided is on the basis of the measurements given to us. Should these measurements be incorrect we accept no responsibility for just about any delay or extra costs involved as a result.
Animals must certanly be shipped in containers developed to IATA specifications which are the proper size for them i.e. they have to be big enough for the animal to operate without touching the the top of box, take a nap comfortably and have the ability to turn round within the box. There must also be a fixed water container inside the container with a method of filling it from the surface (funnel).
Should you desire to utilise our services we would need to have written confirmation with payment the moment possible and at least 28 days beforehand. We will even require a contact Name, Address and Telephone Number in the united states of destination (the airline will have to ring beforehand to confirm acceptance).
You might be able to take your pet as excess baggage, which may mean booking direct with passenger reservations. This might be a cheaper option (please remember that some airlines cannot take livestock and that there may be restrictions such as standby status depending on the airline and the route). However should the animal(s) be a really large shipment (in Airline terms) or coping with the animal(s) at the same time frame while the move be particularly difficult then we could provide cargo option along with other services including collection, kenneling and Export Health Certification.
With home elevators the measurements of the animal(s) we could build transit kennels to fit. Kennels could be either acquired from us or sent to any U.K. Airport to coincide with your sign in time or be brought to your home.
Long lasting mode of travel, pets will go to the cargo hold of the aircraft. That is heated and pressurised to exactly the same extent because the passenger cabin. The animals are loaded in to the hold approximately half an hour before departure (however the airline requires that they’re delivered to them 4 hours before the flight) and are unloaded at one other end usually within 30 minutes of the plane landing. After the documents can be found the animals could be cleared through customs. The handling/vet fees are then payable to the Import Shed Operator at which point the animals could be collected and taken home.
